Addressed to Ms. Sherry Sussman of the Temporary Assistance for Women of Las Vegas, Nevada. In full: "Dear Ms. Sussman: As You requested, I enclose my autographed photo for your Celebrity Room. With best wishes, Sincerely". Harry E.T. Thayer (b. 1927) is an American diplomat who served as the sixth U.S. Ambassador to Singapore from 1980 to 1985. Thayer began his career working for Newsweek magazine in 1952, two years later getting a job at the Philadelphia Bulletin; it was in 1956 that Thayer began working for the State Department, working throughout Asia in Hongkong, Taipei and China. From 1971 to 1975 he was a member of the U.S. Mission at the United Nations before being appointed ambassador to Singapore, simultaneously leading the American Institute in Taiwan. He is the father of Nate Thayer, a journalist who famously scored an interview with Cambodian leader Pol Pot in 1997. Toned. Light surface creases. Fine condition.
