Inscribed photograph signed: "To Mario/all love/Harry H.
Corbett", in blue ink, B/w 3½x5½. British actor Harry H. Corbett
(1925-1982) began his career on the stage circuit, appearing in productions
from the Bristol Old Vic company until landing a chance spot in an episode of
BBC's popular Comedy Playhouse (1962), playing the character
Harry Steptoe. The character was so successful it turned into a fully
developed spin-off show, titled Steptoe and Son which ran between
1962 and 1974. After the series ended, Corbett's career slowed, but he
continued to appear in films and television until his premature death at the age
of 57 from a heart attack. Corners worn. Slightly bowed. Ink smeared, but
still legible. Small tear on top edge. Slightly toned. Otherwise, fine
condition.
