HARRY VON ZELL and JANE POWELL The famous vocalist and actor pens a note on an album leaf, with the signature of the popular radio performer and actress on verso Autograph Note signed: "Thank you Jim/Sincerely/Harry Von Zell" in black felt tip, and on verso "Jane/Powell" in blue ink, 5x4½ album leaf. Ink note (unknown hand) on each side: 1972. HARRY VON ZELL (1906-1981) was a vocalist with Charlie Barnet's orchestra before finding his niche as an announcer. Through the 1930s and forties he was a CBS staff announcer, working with Fred Allen, Eddie Cantor, Eddy Duchin, Ed Wynn and others. In the early 1950s he was announcer for The Burns and Allen Show, "fired" weekly by George Burns for complicity in Gracie Allen's schemes. He was in demand for commercials, and can still be seen late night on the Golf Channel as announcer for the old Celebrity Golf series. Possessing a wide-ranging operatic singing voice, JANE POWELL (b.1928) was a radio performer from childhood. She took dancing and acting lessons, then made her film debut at 15 in Song of the Open Road (1944). She is best known for her parts in film musicals of the early 1950s, including Royal Wedding (1951) and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954). Lightly toned at edges. Pencil notations on front and verso (unknown hand). Otherwise, fine condition.
