Deferring a meeting until he has more time in London
Autograph Letter signed: "Havelock Ellis", 2 pages (front and verso), 8x10. Worthing (England), 1929 January 2. On personal letterhead to Mr. Powys Evans. In full: "In reply to yours, I should be [illegible word] if you care to make another drawing, but I am staying at Worthing at present, & not often in London, & when there the stay is brief and rapid. Perhaps we had better leave it that I let you know when I am spending a longer time in London. Yours sincerely". Henry Havelock Ellis (1859-1939) was trained as a physician, but never practiced. Instead, he devoted his life to the scientific study of sex. His Studies in the Psychology of Sex in seven volumes was completed between 1897 and 1928. The entire collection, a thorough study of problems in sexuality, was banned on grounds of obscenity in his native England. Worthing is a seacoast town in the south of England. Multiple mailing folds. Lightly toned and creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
