8x10. Collector's ink stamp on verso dates signature: June 1936. Hedda
Hopper (1885-1966), who was known for her trademark flashy hats as well as
for her gossip, hosted The Hedda Hopper Show on radio from 1939-1951
and first published her gossip column, "Hedda Hopper's Hollywood", in "The Los
Angeles Times" on February 14, 1938. She carried on a long-running feud with
rival gossip columnist Louella Parsons. An actress herself in many silent films,
Hopper was the mother of actor William Hopper (1915-1970), best known as Paul
Drake on Perry Mason, Hopper published her autobiography, The Whole
Truth and Nothing But, in 1963. Saul
Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his love of
film and theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities. While
other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with
snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Edges creased.
