The Screen World fan writes to John Willis, Editor of Theatre World,
very distressed that she cannot find James Cann's birthday in the latest
edition
Autograph letter signed: "Heidi Almann", in blue ink, 1 page,
7¾x11½. April 22, 1974. In part: "Dear Sirs, I have recently bought
"Screen World 1973" which I think is a fantastic book. In this book you say that
James Caan who was Sonny in "The Godfather" is on page 222. Well this page has a
list of actors telling Biographical data about them and I would be very
interested in knowing James Caan's birthday etc.". Heidi Almann is a
Screen World fan, but no further information can be found. John A. Willis
(1916-2010), active in Theatre World from the beginning, became its chief
editor in 1965, holding that position until 2008. Willis is regarded as one
of the foremost theatre and film historians of the 20th century. While producing
(and presenting) the annual Theatre World Awards, Willis also served on the
nominating committee for the Tony Awards. Theatre World, which
received its own Tony for Excellence in Theatre in 2001, continues
under chief editor Ben Hodges. Multiple folds. Corners slightly worn and
creased. Lightly toned. Tear in top left margin. Light surface creases.
