about yr books." Ellen Buckingham Mathews (1853-1920) was an
English author of novels and short stories using the pen name Helen
Mathers and David Lyall. Over her 35-year career, she wrote a number of
novels, including her most famous, Comin' Thro' the Rye (1875),
and The Lovely Malincourt (1929), as well as short stories for Victorian
periodicals. Lightly creased and soiled. Ink note (unknown hand) at lower left
margin: "Helen/Mathers/novelist". Otherwise, fine condition.
