Advertisement for Wilding, who had studios in London and New York, affixed to verso. HELEN HULL JACOBS (1908-1997) won the U.S. Women's Open tennis tournament four consecutive years (1932-1935) and the Wimbledon tourney in 1936. Her intense rivalry with Helen Wills Moody entertained tennis fans in the 1930s. Jacobs was enshrined in the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1962. English photographer DOROTHY WILDING (1893-1976), who was known for her brightly lit portraits (usually against a white background), was the first woman Official Royal Photographer at the 1937 Coronation of King Edward VIII. That year, she also opened her studio in New York City. Wilding, who has an extensive collection of works in the National Portrait Gallery in London, published her autobiography, In Pursuit of Perfection, in 1958. Wilding's signature slightly smudged (entirely legible). Photograph is lightly rippled from mounting. Mount is slightly soiled at lower margin. Fine condition.
