KELLER & COMAPNION SEND HOLIDAY GREETINGS

HELEN KELLER and POLLY THOMSON.
Christmas Card signed: "Helen Keller" in pencil co-signed by: "Polly Thomson". Color, open to 10x9¼. Printed greeting inside: "May your Christmas be radiant/not merely a festival/but the revivifying Vision of a new humanity" Helen Keller and her friend, secretary and assistant, Mary Agnes "Polly" Thomson, signed this Christmas card for the 1950 holiday season. Between 1946 and 1957, to improve education for the blind and deaf. Keller made seven world tours through the guidance and planning of Thomson, who had joined the courageous lady in October 29, 1914. That change in Keller's ordered life was necessary due to the illness and developing blindness of her first teacher and companion, Anne Sullivan Macy (1866-1936). Miss Sullivan had begun teaching the manual alphabet to the six-year-old Keller in March of 1887. At age one, the little girl had experienced a severe illness, which caused her incapacities. Sullivan, a graduate of the Perkins School for the Blind in Boston, taught Keller to read, write and speak. The protégé graduated cum laude from Radcliffe College (1904) and, thereafter, devoted her life to publicly helping the bland and deaf. Keller wrote several books including The Story of My Life (1902), Midstream (1929) and Teacher (1955). Fine condition. Framed in the Gallery of History style: 26x23.
