Photograph inscribed and signed: "For Genevieve/Every good wish/from/Helen Mack". Sepia, 5x7. Accompanied by mailing envelope with her printed address (simply "Helen Mack/Hollywood, California"), addressed in her hand to Genevieve Ritzel, New Hartford, New York. Helen Mack (1913-1986), born Helen McDougall, appeared as a child in silent films, debuting in Success at age 10, and appearing with stars like Gloria Swanson and Mary Astor. She appeared on vaudeville, stock and Broadway stages before emerging as a leading lady of early talking films, known as one of the screen's best criers. She co-starred with Victor McLaglen in While Paris Sleeps (1932), and was a Western heroine in Fargo Express with Ken Maynard and The California Trail with Buck Jones. She starred in the 1933 movie sequel Son of Kong, and played Harold Lloyd's sister in The Milky Way. She played an inexperienced bank robber in The Wrong Road (1937). Later she had great success as a writer, producer and director of radio series, including Richard Diamond and The Saint. She also wrote two stage plays, The Mating Dance (1965) and Everyone Has to Be Somebody (1971). Slight crease at right edge. Lightly silvered. Otherwise, fine condition.
