Photograph inscribed and signed: "Best Wishes Michael/Helen Mirren". B/w, 4¼x6, Helen Mirren was born Lydia Mirinoff in London (1945), the daughter of an impoverished Russian émigré aristocrat. Her early stage and film work included a strong grounding in Shakespeare, a tradition typified by this still. Mirren's acting awards are too numerous to name, including plaudits from the British and American Academies of Motion Pictures, the Golden Globes, the Screen Actors Guild, the Cannes and Venice film festivals, and the film critics of many cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Boston. In 2006 alone, she won an Emmy for the title role in the mini-series Elizabeth I and an Oscar for portraying Elizabeth II in The Queen. Just a few of her other notable and award-winning films are Cal (1984), The Madness of King George (1994) and Gosford Park (2001). She starred as detective Jane Tennison in the long-running British TV series Prime Suspect, scoring another Emmy when the series arrived in the US. All-Movie Guide called Mirren "the ultimate thinking man's sex symbol." Horizontal crease through mouth. Lightly creased at corners. Otherwise, fine condition.
