Typed excerpt from The Complete Book of the Olympics by David Wallechinsky, describing Stephens' gold medal in women's 100-meter track at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Signed on first page. Helen Stephens (1918-1994), "the Fulton Flash," won a Gold Medal in the 100-meter event at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, and shared another as anchor of the 100-meter relay team. Stephens never lost a race! She also held national titles in discus and shot put. After retiring from amateur track, she owned and managed a semi-pro basketball team, the Helen Stephens Olympic Co-Eds (1938-1952). Staple and staples holes in upper left. Fine condition.
