b/w, 10x8. This 1933 musical features singer Kate Smith as a farm girl who helps galvanize
her fellow farmers into action, but suffers some disappointment when the man she has fallen
for (Scott) turns out to be more interested in her sister (Blane). Born Randolph Crane,
SCOTT (1903-1987) debuted in films in 1928 in Sharp Shooters, the first of the many
Westerns he would make over the course of his movie career. By the mid-1930s he was a
romantic lead and co-star, and from 1950-1953 Scott was one of the top ten box office
attractions. The virile, weathered Scott is best known for his cowboy roles; in the 1940s
and 1950s, he starred in 39 big-budget Westerns, including Virginia City (1940). Scott also
appeared in a number of B-Westerns at the end of his career. BLANE (1910-1997), the older
sister of actress Loretta Young, shared her sister's good looks but not her ambition to be a
top star. However, she did star in several films of the 1930s, including Advice for the Lovelorn
(1933) and Silver Streak (1934), retiring at the end of the decade. Fine condition.
