Stage actress writes to John Willis, editor of Theatre World, about where she can buy old issues of the book
Autograph letter signed: "Dear Mr. Willis; I've wanted to get copies of Theatre World over the years, but never seem to run across them. Would you please advise me where to look for present + back issues. I will appreciate your help in the matter. I've signed them for people over the years in N.Y., Boston + Philly, but was pleasantly surprised to find them at the new Shuburt in Calif. This summer when I was there with Follies. Respectfully". Stage actress Helon Blount (1929-2005) made her Broadway debut in the comedy The Most Happy Fella (1956) and went on to perform in six more Broadway shows including Do I Hear a Waltz? (1965), Follies (1971), and Woman of the Year (1981). John A. Willis (1916-2010), active in Theatre World from the beginning, became its chief editor in 1965, holding that position until 2008. Willis is regarded as one of the foremost theatre and film historians of the 20th century. While producing (and presenting) the annual Theatre World Awards, Willis also served on the nominating committee for the Tony Awards. Theatre World, which received its own Tonyfor Excellence in Theatre in 2001, continues under chief editor Ben Hodges. Corners creased. Light toning. Otherwise, fine condition.
