HENRI DRAYTON
A rare signature from the Opera and Broadway star, dated 1870
Signature: "Henri Drayton/10 October 1870/Chicago", 5x2¾. Henri Drayton (1823-1872) was an Opera singer, author, but most popularly, an actor. He appeared on Broadway for several years between 1859 and 1872, beginning with a role in Love's Labor Lost (1859), a play written by and starring Drayton. The role was a breakthrough for him, and he went on to star in every subsequent Broadway play he appeared in, including There's a Silver Lining to Every Cloud (1859) and The Bohemian Girl (1869). His last performance was in June of 1872, shortly before his death. Lightly toned. Corners lightly worn and creased. Small stain on left margin. Otherwise, fine condition.
