HENRI RICHARD
4x6 image, moving the puck for the Montreal Canadiens
Photograph signed: "Henri Richard/16". Color, 4x6. Many people, including some of his
coaches, told Henri Richard (1936-2020) that he was too small to play in the National
Hockey League. He certainly proved them wrong, joining the Montreal Canadiens in 1955
and helping them to 11 Stanley Cup championships, the most notched by any player in
NHL history. Fifteen years younger than his brother, hockey legend Maurice Richard, he
played a completely different style of hockey: Maurice was a powerful scorer, Henri the
nimble stick handler who twice led the league in assists. The brothers played together on
the Canadiens for five years, winning the Stanley Cup each year. Neither player ever wore the
uniform of any NHL team except Montreal. A four-time All-Star, Henri Richard was
enshrined in the sport's Hall of Fame in 1979. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso. Fine
condition.
