HENRI SAUGUET
Handwritten letter in French, forwarding autographs for two
sons
Autograph Letter signed: "Henri Sauget", 1 page, 6x8½.
Paris, 1982 September 22. In French, fully translated: "Here, dear
Sir, are two autographs in response to your request: one for your son John, and
the second for your son Christopher. With my best wishes". French
composer Henri Sauguet (1901-1989) produced operas, ballets, symphonies,
concertos, choral and chamber music, and even movie scores. Among his best
known works internationally was Les Forains (1945), a ballet about a
traveling circus troupe. Previously high spirited, his music became more
somber after World War II, influenced by his unsuccessful efforts to protect
Jewish friends during the Occupation. Sauguet's life partner was set designer
Jacques Dupont. Multiple mailing folds. Otherwise, fine condition.
