Typed letter in Hebrew informing the
Anglo-Palestine Bank that The United Committee for resettling Jews of Germany in Eretz Yisrael has permitted Dr. Finer and Mr. A. Berlin of Tel Aviv to sign on behalf of the board, framed to 14x27.
Typed Letter signed: "Henrietta Szold", 1 page, 8½x11, framed to 14x17. Jerusalem, [Israel], 1933 July 16. On letterhead of The United Committee for Resettling Jews of Germany in Eretz Yisrael, written to the Anglo-Palestine Bank, in full: "In addition to the people we have notified already as signatories for the United Committee (Mz Szold, Mr. M. Ussishkin, Dr. Hantke, Mr. A. Elizur) I am hereby to notify you that, as of today till further notice, also Dr. Finer and Mr. A. Berlin of Tel Aviv are approved to sign With much respect" In 1912, Baltimore-born Henrietta Szold (1860-1945) founded the Woman's Zionist Organization of America, Hadassah. She was its first president from 1912-1926, becoming the first woman elected to the World Zionist Organization in 1927. In 1920, Szold had moved to Palestine, where she directed medical and rehabilitation work, especially for children. Because of the rapid spread of anti-Semitism in Germany, the Jewish Agency for Palestine had to create a separate agency to handle the emigration of Jews from Germany. One vertical and one horizontal fold. Two filing holes at left. Lightly toned at edges. Otherwise, fine condition. Not framed in Galley of History Style.
