Photograph inscribed and signed; "The Green family/with good
wishes/Henry A. Kissinger". B/w, 8x9¾. Ink stamp on verso: May 9, 1970. Born
in Germany (1923), Henry Kissinger came to the U.S. in 1938 and
subsequently became a U.S. citizen. From 1954 to 1971, he taught government and
international relations at Harvard, authoring several influential books on the
same topics. As Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs
(1969-1975), he eclipsed the Secretary of State as a shaper of U.S. foreign
policy under Presidents Nixon and Ford, subsequently becoming Secretary of State
(1973-1977). He shared with Le Duc Tho of Vietnam the Nobel Peace Prize
(1973) for brokering the Vietnam peace agreement, an honor Le declined.
After leaving government, Kissinger founded an international consulting firm,
Kissinger Associates, while continuing to write. Lightly worn. Ink lightly
smudged (still legible). Otherwise, fine condition.
