HENRY KISSINGER
Black and white publicity photograph of Henry Kissinger wearing a suit and tie.
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Bill Nilsen/with good wishes/Henry Kissinger". B/w, 8x10 overall, image 6x8 (one surface). Born in Germany (1923), Kissinger came to the U.S. in 1938 and subsequently became a U.S. citizen. From 1954 to 1971, he taught government and international relations at Harvard, authoring several influential books on the same topics. As Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs (1969-1975), he eclipsed the Secretary of State as a shaper of U.S. foreign policy under Presidents Nixon and Ford, subsequently becoming Secretary of State (1973-1977). He shared with Le Duc Tho of Vietnam the Nobel Peace Prize (1973) for brokering the Vietnam peace agreement, an honor Le declined. After leaving government, Kissinger founded an international consulting firm, Kissinger Associates, while continuing to write. Ink note and photographer's stamp on verso (no show through). Paperclip indentation at blank upper margin. Inscription and "Kis" of signature slightly smudged. Overall, fine condition.
