HENRY ARMETTA
The talented character actor signs on a 6x4½ album leaf
Autograph Note Signed: "To my friend Steve/Sincerely/Henry
Armetta/1935", 6x4½ album leaf. Henry Armetta (1888-1945) was an
illegal-immigrant, 1902-style, stowing away on a boat from Italy. He found
success in Hollywood as a character actor, often playing stereotypical,
excitable Italians in comedies and not a few dramas, beginning in the silent
era. Laurel and Hardy fans may remember his as the flustered innkeeper in The
Devil's Brother (1933). His last film, A Bell for Adano, appeared
after his death. Binding holes at left edge. Toned at edges. Vertical crease
through center. Otherwise, fine condition.
