The early Hollywood actor signs his name in blue ink
Signature: "Henry Armetta" in blue ink (slightly torn below
last name). 3¾x3 clipping affixed to 5x3 index card. Henry Armetta
(1888-1945) was an illegal-immigrant, 1902-style, stowing away on a boat
from Italy. He found success in Hollywood as a character actor, often playing
stereotypical, excitable Italians in comedies and not a few dramas,
beginning in the silent era. Laurel and Hardy fans may remember his as the
flustered innkeeper in The Devil's Brother (1933). His last film, A
Bell for Adano, appeared after his death. Toned. Soiled and stained.
Worn. Creased throughout. Torn in bottom left corner (heavily torn through last
name). Pencil notes in unknown hand on right edge of index card.
