HENRY BUSSE and BUSSE'S BUZZARDS; PEE WEE HUNT. Signatures and inscribed signature: "Sincerely/Henry Busse" and on 4x5 paper affixed to verso: "Best wishes/to Ann/Always/'Pee Wee' Hunt/1939". Main item is a circular page, 10½" diameter, fringed with musical notes. Traditional jazz trumpeter BUSSE (1894-1955) led a recording and performing group called Busse's Buzzards from the 1920s to the 1940s. By the forties he was also performing big band swing music. Other readily identifiable signatures, which may include names well known to enthusiasts of the big band era, include "Billy Herman (vocalist)", "Ducky Young (trumpet)", "Gus Mayhew (Tromb)", "Joe Turi (trombine)", "Arthur J Randle (Clarinet)", "Howard Hiatt - (Pianist)", "Sam Lutz - Mgr", "Karl Higginbotham/Bass", "Murray Williams" [who played alto sax with several bands of the era], "Billy Hunter", "Eddie Johnston", "Ruth Petty", "Mel Hurwitz", and "Francita". 15 signatures in all. Ink note at bottom (unknown hand): "March 1 - 40/Blue Room - Roosevelt - New Orleans". HUNT (1907-1979) trombonist and good humored vocalist for many years with the Casa Loma Orchestra (1929-1943). After a stint in the merchant marine and as a disc jockey, Hunt formed his own Dixieland band and had a hit record, "Twelfth Street Rag" (1948). Slightly soiled. Otherwise, fine condition.
