HENRY C. DWORSHAK
The politician's signs his name above his typed name in blue ink
Signature: "Henry C. Dworshak", in blue ink,3¼x2 card. Henry Lowe Dworshak
(1894-1962), previously a printer, publisher, and editor of the Burley Bulletin, served Idaho
as a U.S. congressman (1939-1945) and was a member of the U.S. Senate. Twice appointed
to the Senate after an incumbent's death (1945-1949, 1950-1961), he also died in office.
Dworshak remained a staunch isolationist, even after World War II caused many Senators to
abandon that position. A supporter of Senator Joseph McCarthy, he voted against the
censure of McCarthy by the Senate, even though McCarthy had made many disparaging
remarks about Dworshak at the Army-McCarthy hearings of 1954. A veteran of World War
I, Dworshak is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine
condition.
