"Loyally/Earle Ryder", 5x1¾. HENRY CLAY BARNABEE (1833-1917),
baritone vocalist and comic actor, was an original member of the Boston Ideal
Opera Company (1879), better known as "the Bostonians". The Bostonians
performed light opera, including works of Gilbert & Sullivan. Barnabee
was particularly noted for humorous parts, especially the Sheriff of Nottingham
in Reginald De Koven's Robin Hood. Actor EARLE RYDER appeared
in two Broadway plays produced by Charles Frohman: Eben Holden, an
original melodrama, 1901; and David Harum, a comedy revival, 1902. Tape
affixed at right, bottom and left edge (lightly affecting Barnabee signature).
Irregularly cut at edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
