HENRY CRUZ The Major League outfielder pens his name on this 5½x3½ black and white photo Photograph signed: "Henry Cruz", in blue ink, b/w, 5½x3½. Henry Acosta Cruz (b. 1952) was an outfielder and (following his retirement from playing) the director of the Los Angeles Dodgers Dominican baseball academy. After signing with the L.A. Dodgers as an undrafted free agent, Cruz made his Major League debut against the San Francisco Giants. He played sporadically during the 1975 and 1976 seasons, and the Chicago White Sox claimed him off waivers in 1977. Cruz played for the White Sox for two years before being bumped down to their minor league system. Although he was picked up by the Detroit Tigers in 1980, he never saw any playing time with their Major League team. Cruz continued playing in various leagues in different locales until his retirement from playing in 1985. The Cleveland Indians hired him as a scout, and he spent 10 season evaluating players for the team. Beginning in 2007, he was affiliated with the L.A. Dodgers organization, serving in a number of different capacities. Slight wear at top edge. Pen note (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
