HENRY I. WACHTEL
The dentist and author praises Mallorca during a visit: "Words cannot describe this paradise."
Autograph Letter signed: "Henry I. Wachtel". 5½x4, picture postcard. Palma, Mallorca, 1956 October 16. To Dr. and Mrs. Resnik, in full: "Dear friends, This island, this city, are the most fantastically beautiful places we visited in all our past travels. The climate, the old Gothic and Moorish architecture, the grace & politeness of 'Lord and peasant' are beyond the dreams of concept for us mortals, 'running, fretting & chasing', not knowing why, wither and wherefore. I shall not belabor any impressions here to tell you more. Words cannot describe this paradise. We came here after a visit to Barcelona and we leave tonight & head to Madrid where we hope to write you again. We hope to leave on the 8th of November from Cherbourg, France. We booked on the Queen Mary. Be you all well and regards too to your mothers, Tante, Mr. Kyle and the [illegible proper names]." Henry I. Wachtel (1880-1969) was an American dentist who founded a children's dental clinic in Israel. He wrote a book, Security For All and Free Enterprise, a study of the social philosophy of Austrian inventor, social reformer and philosopher Josef Popper-Lynkeus, bearing an introduction by Albert Einstein. Corners and edges lightly worn. Fine condition.
