HENRY LYTTONThe esteemed English actor pens his name as well as a sentiment on this album leaf Autograph Sentiment signed: “Yours very sincerely/ Harry Lytton/ [two lines that are difficult to decipher]”, in black ink, 6¼x3¾. Henry Lytton (1895-1963) was an actor and singer who specialized in comic patter-baritone roles. He appeared in many Gilbert and Sullivan opera during the early part of the 20th century. Lytton began his career acting in operettas and plays. It was his wife, Louie Henri, who encouraged him to pursue a theatrical career, and she became his voice and acting coach. The couple's hard work eventually paid off and Lytton was invited to join the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company in 1884.He toured with the group on and off for the next several decades, often starring as a principal comedian. Many of the performances in which Lytton appeared were held at the famous Savoy Theatre in London. Signer on verso merits further research. Lightly toned.
