Autograph Sentiment signed: "Yours very sincerely/H. M. Alden",
5x6½. Written on facing page of an integral leaf from a New York autograph
collector dated April 1, 1910. Henry Mills Alden (1836-1919) joined the
staff of Harper's as a managing editor in 1863. He became
editor in chief in 1869, holding that position for a half century until his
death. Alden, schooled in theology and also classical literature, wrote several
books, including God in His World (1890) and A Study of Death
(1895). Normal mailing fold. Lightly worn. Lightly soiled. Otherwise, fine
condition.
