Typed Letter signed: "Henry P. Fletcher" as Under Secretary of
State, 1 page, 7¼x9¼. Washington, 1921 March 14. On official
letterhead to H. K. Taylor, Hartford, Connecticut. In full: "I was
awfully glad to hear from you after so many years. It will be a great pleasure
to me to see you when you come to Washington and also to meet your Congressman.
With many thanks for your congratulations, I am, Sincerely yours". Henry
Prather Fletcher (1873-1959), a member of Theodore Roosevelt's Rough
Riders, was a career foreign service officer, US Ambassador to Chile,
Mexico and Italy as well as Under Secretary of State. He was
Chairman of the Republican National Committee from 1934 to 1936. Corners
slightly worn. Normal mailing fold. Light surface creases. Lightly toned.
