HENRY T. HELMBOLDThe pharmacist's signature dated 1869 in Broadway. Extremely rare! Signature: "H.T. Helmbold/Drugist/594 Broadway NY/Dec 1/69", in black ink, 5x2¾. Henry T. Helmbold (1826-1892) was a pharmacy owner in the late 1800's, known for his Buchu extract that was used to much popularity. Although Helmbold was not a doctor, or even a certified pharmacist, he achieved great success with his medicines and pharmacies and had a business that was unmatched during its times. One bottle of his medicine would go wholesale for around $100, while it would only retail for around $1, bringing Helmbold a great amount of fortune. During the height of his success, Hembold was in an out of insane asylums by jealous associates hoping to gain some of his fortune. However, he was never interred long, as his wife often vouched for his sanity. Heavily toned. Fine condition.
