HENRY T. RAINEY
Rose colored cloth signed by the politician and his wife, Ella.
Extremely rare!
Ephemera signed: "Henry T. Rainey", "Ella Rainey", 4¼x3.
Democrat Henry T. Rainey (1860-1945) represented Illinois in Congress
from 1903 to 1921 and 1923 until his death in 1934. Rainey was Speaker of the
House from March 9, 1933 until his death on August 19, 1934. It was his
position as Speaker of the House that helped President Franklin D. Roosevelt's
New Deal pass with almost no objection or changes, as Rainey gave the
Roosevelt administration carte blanche to do as it pleased. The politician was
married to Ella Rainey (1858-1945) from 1888 until his death. Edges
frayed. Lightly creased. Ink notes (unknown hand). Otherwise, fine
condition.
