HENRY WINKLER
Black and white publicity photograph of Henry Winkler in two scenes from The One and Only.
Photograph signed: "Knock/your socks/off -/Henry Winkler/1979." B/w, 8x9¾ overall, with two different images 8x4½ (one surface). Stills from the 1978 comedy/drama, The One and Only, in which Winkler starred as Andy Schmidt, a "Gorgeous George" type of pro wrestler. Directed by Carl Reiner, the film also starred Kim Darby, Gene Saks, William Daniels and Herve Villechaize (not signing) (pictured at lower right of lower photo as Milton Miller, a midget "rassler"). ©1977, Balmoral Associates. Captioned at lower margin. In 1979, the year he signed this photograph, Winkler appeared in the made-for-TV movie, An American Christmas Carol, in addition to starring in Happy Days. On October 30, 1973 his 28th birthday, Henry Winkler (born in 1945) joined the popular sitcom Happy Days as Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli. Although his character was never meant to be the star of the show, kids of all ages soon were imitating his leather-jacketed greaser with his trademark "Aaaay!" Both before and since Happy Days completed its run (1974-1984) on ABC, Winkler appeared several feature films, including Heroes (1977), Night Shift (1982) and Scream (1996). Winkler has also appeared in a long list of TV series, from Mary Tyler Moore (1973) to a recurring role as Barry Zuckerhorn on Arrested Development (2003-2005). He returned to headline his own sitcom with Out of Practice, which debuted in September 2005. Winkler has also been a successful director, producer and executive producer. Lightly creased at lower blank margin. Minor surface creases and scratches (most not evident head on), 1 light crease touches 1 word of writing. Fine condition.
