Signature: "H. V. Morton/27/10/31/Glasglow", in black ink, 6¼x3¾. Henry Vollam Morton (1892-1979) was a British journalist and travel writer. In 1927, he traveled around England by private car, describing his journeys in In Search of England, the first of his popular travelogues. His Through Lands of the Bible (1938), was used as a guidebook by British soldiers in World War II. Morton settled in Somerset West, near Cape Town, South Africa, in the late 1940s. Left edge frayed and worn from binding. Creased on left margin. Light surface creases. Lightly toned on edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
