Check no. 1523 for $1.50, made out to James McLeutcheon & Co. and drawn on Taft's account at the Bank of America. One 2-cent red and white documentary stamp affixed in top left corner. Taft was the son of Secretary of War and U. S. Attorney General Alphonso Taft and the brother of President William Howard Taft. An important lawyer in New York, he was a delegate to the Republican National Conventional in 1920 and 1924. Normal bank stamps and cancellation cuts. Lightly soiled and creased. Pinholes near top edge. Adhesive residue near stamp. Folded twice and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
