Black and white youthful photograph of the musician smiling wearing a suit and tie
Printed Photograph Signed in Ink Twice: "Herb Alpert" twice. B/w, 8x10 overall, image 7½x8½ (one surface). Trumpet player, occasional vocalist (most notably Burt Bacharach's "This Guy's In Love With You", which was a No. 1 hit in 1968) and leader of The Tijuana Brass, Herb Alpert had his first big hit, "The Lonely Bull", in 1962. The Tijuana Brass was the fourth leading album seller of the 1960s, after Elvis, The Beatles and Sinatra. Alpert, the co-founder of A&M Records (1962), has also co-written songs (with Lou Adler) for Sam Cooke (including Cooke's hits, "Wonderful World" and "Only Sixteen"), exhibited his paintings, co-produced Broadway shows and founded the Herb Alpert Foundation, which funds educational, artistic and environmental programs for children. First signature in ink has smudged, signed again in silver crayon. Nail head-sized scratch at hairline. Creased at edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
