HERBERT SUTCLIFFE (1894-1978) was an English professional cricketer who represented Yorkshire and England as an opening batsman, with a career spanning the period between the two World Wars. He is remembered for being one of the most successful Test batsmen ever, completing his career with an average of 60.73, which is the highest by any English batsman and the sixth-highest worldwide; he was inducted into the International Cricket Conference Hall of Fame. PATSY HENDREN (1889-1962) was an English cricketer, remembered as one of the most prolific English batsmen during the period between the two World Wars. He has the third highest first class run aggregate, and is in second place in centuries with 170. DENIS C.S. COMPTON (1918-1997) was an English cricketer who played 78 Test matches during his Middlesex cricket career, furthermore having a successful football career with Arsenal F.C. He is best remembered as a right-handed batsman and slow left-arm chinaman bowler, as well as one of England's most remarkable batsmen, being one of only seventeen players to have scored over one-hundred centuries in first-class cricket, earning him a spot in the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
