HERMAN'S HERMITS: PETER NOONE and DEREK LECKENBY
B/w publicity photo of Herman and his Hermits in leather jackets and eye-bending suits during their British Invasion years. Derek Leckenby has signed this photo "Derek Lek", and frontman Peter Noone has signed it "Love Herman". With one other signer.
Photograph signed "Derek Lek/xx" by Lek and "Love/Herman" by Noone, both in blue ink. With other unidentified signer. B/w, 10¼x8¼. Captioned: "Herman's Hermits". One of the "British Invasion" bands of the 1960s, HERMAN'S HERMITS had 20 singles in the Top 40 on British and U.S. charts between 1964-1970. Their hits included I'm Into Something Good, I'm Henry the Eighth, I Am, Leaning on the Lamp Post, No Milk Today, Dandy and There's A Kind of Hush (All Over the World). NOONE, born Peter Blair Denis Bernard in Davyhulme, Greater Manchester, England in 1947) is a British singer and actor best known as the lead singer of Herman's Hermits from 1962 to 1973. Although he continues to tour with the group, Noone branched out into acting, primarily on television. He starred as Stanley on Coronation Street, Britain's longest-running soap opera and on the British series, Look, Mike Yarwood! (1971-1973), and Noone, who is known for his boyish charm, hosted My Generation (1989-1992). He has also been seen on U.S. television in guest starring roles on several series, including Laverne & Shirley, Too Close For Comfort, My Two Dads and Quantum Leap as well as the daytime soap opera, As the World Turns. Noone's feature film credits include Hold On! (with Herman's Hermits), Mrs. Brown, You've Got a Lovely Daughter (also the title of one of the group's popular songs that was never released as a single), Never Too Young to Rock and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. LECKENBY (1943-1994, born in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England), also known as "Lek", was an English guitarist who played on some of Herman's Hermits early hits, including playing the guitar solo on I'm Henry the Eighth, I Am, and who arranged the band's hit I'm Into Something Good. He joined the band after Karl Green switched to bass guitar in the band. After Herman's Hermits broke up, he toured with a version of the band that included fellow Hermit Barry Whitwam between 1974 and 1994. Lightly toned, foxed, soiled and creased, otherwise in fine condition.
