GERMAN FIGHTER PILOTS Envelope signed by members of the World War II era Luftwuffe, Nazi Germany's elite aerial force Commemorative Envelope Signed: “Hermann Hogeback”, “Herbert Kuntz”, “Freiherr Von Beust”, “Klaus Noske” and “Herbert Wittman”. Royal Air Force cover with color cachet honoring the 60th anniversary of the first long-distance international air race circuit of Europe, June, 18, 1971. Postmarked twice at Vincennes. One French stamp featuring Henri Farman affixed. Color illustration of a Bristol Blenheim MK.1 cacheted on left-hand side of envelope. HERMANN HOGEBACK (1914-2004) was a German fighter ace who flew as a member of the Luftwaffe during the Second World War. HERBERT KUNTZ (1915-1998) was a German fighter ace primarily known for serving in World War II. Impressively, he took part in 700 sorties and was known as an experienced torpedo bomber. HANS-HENNING FREIHERR VON BEUST (1913-1991) was an Oberst (the German equivalent of a colonel) who flew as a member of the Luftwaffe throughout World War II. KLAUS NOSKE (1911-1978) was a major in the World War II Luftwaffe. For his service, he received the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. HERBERT WITTMAN (1914-2007) was an Oberst who flew in the Luftwaffe during the Second World War. He is one of a select group of fighters who was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. On verso the identities and accomplishments of signers have been stamped neatly in German. Lightly toned. Corners gently worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
