4x6 image of the German baritone, in a casual shirt
Postcard Photograph signed: "Hermann Prey/24-6-73". B/w, 4x6.
German lyric baritone Hermann Prey (1929-1998) was equally at home on
opera and concert stages, and in lieder recitals. Performing mostly in
his native country in the 1950s, he sang frequently at the Metropolitan in the
following decade. Shifting his focus from Verdi to Mozart and Richard Strauss
later in his career, Prey was particularly adept at comic roles, remembered
especially as Figaro. He also sang operettas, and was a popular figure on
German TV. Corners lightly worn. Slight surface creasing. Ink note (unknown
hand) on verso. Tape on bottom left corner. Otherwise, fine
condition.
