HERSCHEL WALKER
The 1982 Heisman Trophy winner signs a 5½x3½ sheet of paper in blue
ink.
Autograph Sentiment signed: "Best of luck/Sorry about
photo/Herschel Walker" in blue ink, 1 page, irregularly cut 5½x3½ sheet
affixed to irregularly cut 7½x6 cardstock. Newspaper clipping and typed caption
also affixed at bottom of mounting card. A bookworm as a young boy, Walker
embarked at age 11 on a rigorous exercise program to turn himself into an
athlete. He won the Heisman Trophy (1982) as a running back at the
University of Georgia. Leaving college after his junior year, at a time when the
NFL would not draft students before graduation, Walker signed with the
fledgling U.S. Football League, winning its MVP award in two of his three
seasons there. An immediate Pro Bowler upon his move to the NFL
(1986), Walker played 12 seasons in that league for the Dallas Cowboys,
Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles. Walker has since started a line of
food products bearing his name, danced with the New York and Fort Worth Ballet
companies, finished seventh in the 2-man bobsled event at the 1992 Winter
Olympics, and done much charitable work. It should surprise no one that he is
much in demand as a motivational speaker. Horizontal fold crosses "Herschel".
Mounting card lightly soiled. Otherwise, fine condition.
