California, 1956 September 11. Hoagy Carmichael hires the William Morris Agency
to be his agent for three years "with respect to the sale, lease, license
or other disposition of all creative property, and package shows owned,
controlled, acquired or created by me, in whole or part...." However,
"William Morris Agency, Inc. shall not be entitled to any commission in
connection with the royalties paid to me by ASCAP or any other performing rights
society." One of the great composers of American popular song, Hoagy
Carmichael (1899-1981) wrote such standards as "Stardust", "Georgia On My Mind",
"Heart and Soul" and the 1952 Academy Award winning Best Song, "In the Cool,
Cool, Cool of the Evening". He also sang and played (piano and occasionally
trumpet) well enough to perform his own songs and also appeared as an actor in
11 films including To Have and Have Not (1944) and The Best Years of
Our Lives (1946). File holes at blank top edge. Fine condition.
