Show Bill signed: "C O'Connor", "Frances Sternhagen", "Linda Cook", 118 pages, 5½x8½. Playbill for a production of Home Front at New York's Royale Theatre (January 2-12, 1985). CARROLL O'CONNOR (1925-2001) won a fifth Emmy Award for his portrayal of Sheriff William "Bill" O. Gillespie in the TV series In the Heat of the Night (1988-1994), in which his adopted son, actor Hugh O'Connor, also appeared. He is best known, however, for his role as Archie Bunker on All in the Family, televised on CBS from 1971-1979, for which he won four Emmy Awards. The first situation comedy to deal openly with bigotry, prejudice and politics, All in the Family was the number one show in the Nielsen ratings during its first five seasons and continued as Archie Bunker's Place (1979-1983). Over his 50-year acting career, O'Connor also starred in a number of feature films, including Parrish (1961), Lonely Are the Brave (1962), Cleopatra (1963), In Harm's Way (1965), What Did You Do in the War, Daddy? (1966), Hawaii (1966) and In the Heat of the Night (1988), and made-for-television movies and was a guest star on a number of TV series. FRANCES STERNHAGEN (b. 1930) won Tonys as Best Featured Actress for The Good Doctor (1974) and The Heiress (1995), and five additional Tony nominations, most recently for Morning's at Seven (2002). Like many stage actresses, she has found roles in several daytime TV dramas (Love of Life, One Life to Live, The Secret Storm). She has made recurring guest appearances on such popular series as Cheers (as Esther Clavin, 1985-1993), ER (as Millicent Carter, 1997-2003), Sex and the City (as Bunny, 2000-2002) and The Closer (Willie Ray Johnson, 2006-2012). Although LUCY COOK (1948-2012) made some prime time TV appearances, including Law & Order, she is probably most familiar to soap opera fans, having appeared in six of the daytime dramas, from The Edge of Night (1956) to As the World Turns (2007). Fine condition.
