Homer Samuel Ferguson (1889-1982) was circuit court judge for Wayne County, Michigan (1929-1942). He was then elected to two terms in the US Senate (1943-1955), serving as head of the Republican Policy Committee. He introduced the Senate legislation inserting "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance (1954). Defeated in a bid for a third term, he served as US Ambassador to the Philippines (1955-1956), and then returned to the bench as judge on the US Court of Military Appeals in Washington, D.C. (1956-1976). Edges lightly toned. Ink stamp on verso, no show-through. Otherwise, fine condition.
