as U.S. Senator, 1 page, 8x10½. Washington, D.C., 1945 August 1. On United States Senate Committee on the
Judiciary letterhead addressed to Mr. Ralph Errington Ward, Washington, D.C.
In full: "Dear Mr. Ward: In compliance with the request in your letter
of July 29th, I am enclosing autographed United States Senate Chamber gallery
card. With best personal regards, I am Sincerely"Affixed to an 8½x11

3) Original United States Senate mailing envelope with
Ferguson's ink stamped frank, addressed to Ralph Errington Ward, Washington,
D.C., Postmarked Washington, D.C., August 2, 1945. Affixed on verso of
the 8½x11 page (3 surfaces). Cut uneven at edges. Otherwise, fine
condition. Homer Samuel Ferguson (1889-1982) was
circuit court judge for Wayne County, Michigan (1929-1942). He was then
elected to two terms in the United States Senate as a Republican from
Michigan (1943-1955), serving as head of the Republican Policy Committee. He
introduced the Senate legislation inserting "under God" in the Pledge of
Allegiance (1954). Defeated in a bid for a third term, he served as US
Ambassador to the Philippines (1955-1956), and then returned to the bench
as judge on the US Court of Military Appeals in Washington, D.C.

Ralph Errington Ward (1926-2009) a fighter pilot and squadron commander
in the China-Burma-India Theater of World War II. Ward became President and CEO
of Cheseborough-Ponds, Inc., transforming the cosmetics firm into a major home
product conglomerate.
