HOSANNA PLAY CAST
Richard Monette and Richard Donat sign on a Playbill for a production of Hosanna
Show bill signed: "Richard/Donat", "Richard/Monette", in black ink, 44 pages, 5¾x9. Playbill for a production of Hosanna at the Bijou Theatre in New York. Canadian actor RICHARD DONAT (b. 1941) has appeared on both stage and screen with a career spanning almost 40 years. His first major credit was in the Broadway play Hosanna (1974), though the career was short lived, as he quickly transitioned to film and television directly after the play. Most of his roles in film and television have been rather minor, though he did have slightly larger roles in the film The Weight of the Water (2000) and Amelia (2009). Currently, he is a recurring character on the drama Haven (2010). RICHARD MONETTE (1944-2008) was a popular Canadian stage actor, associated heavily with the Stratford Festival of Canada. He began his acting career while still a teenager, with his first major role being Hamlet at the Crest Theatre when he was only 19. He would join the Stratford Company in 1965, eventually landing a role in the play Soldiers (1968), which would take him to his first Broadway production. He would later take the title role in Hosanna (1974), which earned him a Drama Desk Award nomination. Monette eventually transitioned to directing after battling with stage fright for most of his career, and was named artistic director of Stratford, a position he held from 1994 to 2007, until retiring shortly before his death. Ink transfer. Slightly toned. Corners lightly worn and creased. Light surface creases. Otherwise, fine condition.
