Typed Letter signed: "Howard.", 1 page, 6x8. NO place,
January 10, 1969. In part: "Dear John, Thank y ou for your Xmas card
and most thoughtful birthday greeting. I regret not having been able to get this
letter off sooner but things have been pretty hectic up until now. However, I am
finally getting settled and do not regret for one minute having made this
change. This is indeed the most beautiful city in the United States, and I fall
more and more in love with it all the time..."More research is
required on this signer. John A. Willis (1916-2010), active in Theatre
World from the beginning, became its chief editor in 1965, holding that
position until 2008. Willis is regarded as one of the foremost theatre and
film historians of the 20th century. While producing (and presenting) the annual
Theatre World Awards, Willis also served on the nominating committee for the
Tony Awards. Theatre World, which received its own Tony for
Excellence in Theatre in 2001, continues under chief editor Ben Hodges.Toned. Corners lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
