Oklahoma!, 34p, 6½x9. Oklahoma!, a musical by Richard Rodgers and
Oscar Hammerstein II, opened at Broadway's St. James Theatre on March 31, 1943.
On May 2, 1944, Oklahoma! received a special Pulitzer Prize for
Drama. When it closed in 1948, it had run for 2,212 performances, a Broadway
record unsurpassed until My Fair Lady. Oklahoma! opened at the
Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London on April 29, 1947, with HOWARD KEEL in
the lead role as Curly. Keel had replaced original cast member Alfred
Drake in the Broadway production before opening in London. Before it closed
on October 21, 1950, Oklahoma! had run for 1,548 performances in London,
the longest run of any show in the 267 year history of the Drury Lane. Cover and
