Typed Card Signed: "Hubert/Green" and "Phil Mickelson". 6x4 white index card. In Full: "PHIL MICKELSON, the amateur golfer who continues to attend Arizona state despite having qualified for the PGA Tour, on the career advice he received from veteran pro HUBERT GREEN: 'Hubert told me to go to graduate school.' Sports Illustrated July 29, 1991". Hubert Green (1946-2018) began his professional golf career in 1969 and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2007. Along the way, he accumulated 28 wins, including the US Open (1977) and the PGA Championship (1985). Green joined the Champions Tour (Senior PGA Tour) in 1998, and was a successful golf course designer. PHIL MICKELSON (born 1970) has won 36 PGA Tour events through February, 2005 including the Masters Tournament in 2004. In 1990, Mickelson became the first left handed golfer to win the U.S. Amateur title and only the third - the others being Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods - to win the NCAA championship and the U.S. Amateur in the same year. An avid pilot, Mickelson and his wife Amy are active in the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which in 2004 donated $100 for ever birdie and $500 for every eagle Mickelson scored to U.S. military personnel and their families.
