Typed Letter signed: "Hugh Scott" as the U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania, 1p, 5¼x8. Washington, D.C., 1973 January 4. On United States Senate letterhead to Mr. Eugene Miller, Senior Vice President, New York Stock Exchange, Inc., New York, New York. In full: "Thank you very much for sending me the full text of Chairman James J. Needham's December 7th address on corporate responsibility in the Central Market System. I found Mr. Needham's remarks very interesting and do appreciate your sending it to me. With kindest regards and best wishes for the New Year, Sincerely". Hugh Doggett Scott Jr. (1900-1994) was a Republican congressman (1941-1945, 1947-1959) and U.S. senator (1959-1977) from Pennsylvania, who served as Republican Whip in 1969 and Senate Minority Leader from 1969-1977. Scott was also Chairman of the Republican National Committee from 1948-1949. Slightly creased with folds, not at signature. Receipt stamp on verso lightly shows through at inside address. Otherwise, fine condition.
